Corporate Bio ~ Andrea K. McCray

As president Manatee Maven, Inc., Andrea is a fourth-generation Citrus-Countian who brings a wealth of knowledge, education, experience, skills, and direction to her clients.  She founded the Andrea K. & Co. Consulting firm after serving more than 25 years in various nonprofit leadership capacities, as well as leading a successful corporate career.  Andrea is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics.

Prior to starting Manatee Maven, Inc., Andrea was a lead statistician at Abbott Laboratories in Irving, TX (1998-2000) and was later recruited by Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, TX.  From 2000-2005, she worked as a database administrator, SAS programmer and change management specialist. In addition, she was responsible for successfully implementing, maintaining, and documenting the Sarbanes-Oxley controls (Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act) for the entire bank.

While in Texas, Andrea served in leadership capacities at the Dallas Symphony Association and volunteered at the Interfaith Housing Coalition, a nonprofit organization that provides permanent housing and supportive services to families.  As a member of the Innovators of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League, Andrea served in the roles of secretary and then as president for two years, which afforded her the opportunity to serve as a member of the Board of Governors for the Dallas Symphony Association. Andrea also served for three years as a mentor to youth in the Dallas Symphony Young Strings Program. The DS Young Strings program develops the talents of exceptional and underrepresented string players by providing its students with the skills, lessons, opportunities, and resources essential for success both in college and careers in music. 

Also, Andrea exercised her entrepreneurial skills and opened her first bakery in Flower Mound, TX in 2004, called Cakes and Creations. Cakes and Creations was recognized as the Number 1 bakery in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for wedding cakes.

In 2005, Andrea relocated to Citrus County, Florida to care for her ailing parents and grandmother. She founded and served as President and CEO for Community Action Foundation of Citrus County (CAFCC). CAFCC offered educational, cultural, and social enrichment programs for youth and families of Citrus County, particularly for the socio-economically disadvantaged and at-risk.  Andrea also relocated Cakes and Creations to Crystal River, FL in 2009.  

During her tenure in Citrus County, Andrea has planned, produced, and successfully executed several family-oriented initiatives, community events, fundraising drives, and private affairs and parties.  Andrea specializes in non-profit "Sponsor/Client" relationships and retention.  Andrea has served on the School Advisory Enhancement Council for both Crystal River Primary School and Crystal River High School, the Executive Board for the Citrus County American Cancer Society, the City of Crystal River Planning Commission, Board of Directors for United Way of Citrus County, the Parent Association Council of Seven Rivers Christian School, and Special Events volunteer for Citrus County Blessings. She currently helps with the Annual Citrus County Blessings Halloween Costume Ball. Andrea was awarded the City of Crystal River Mayor’s Award in 2008 and the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Afro –American Club of Citrus County for her dedicated service to the community.
